On Sunday, September 10th we were pleased to host “Bluegrass for Bucky”. People from all over gathered to show love and support for Bucky Shepherd, who is battling a brave fight against Pancreatic Cancer. As a way to further awareness of this deadly form cancer, purple ribbons were distributed to attendees of this event. Check out the video below:

The day started with a cornhole tournament featuring friendly competition, and prizes were handed out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Soon the sounds of Bluegrass music filled the air as three local bands donated their time and talent playing some of Bucky’s favorite songs. Mason Creek, Wound Tight, and Blue Connection ruled the stage for this event. Also, some of our friends from our Thursday Nights Jam Sessions took their turns behind the microphone to fill out this grand event. And to really round out the day, Bucky himself sang several songs, including his signature version of 5 Pound Possum! (Hint: watch the video above.)
With more than 20 cakes, raffle items, and a 50/50 drawing, we were able to raise over $2,700 for this fine gentleman. With music and dancing, tears and laughter, it was a great day for one great guy, and as they used to say in those old time country newspapers, “a good time was had by all!”
